Math for Meaning™: Story Problems 101
In this institute, participants will be introduced to Lavinia Group’s Math for Meaning™ method that has helped our partner schools rapidly increase student achievement and confidence in mathematics.
This institute is designed for teachers and leaders in Grades K-5 who are new to Lavinia Group’s Story Problems method.
To teach Math for Meaning™ Story Problems in the classroom, teachers can use Lavinia Group’s Math for Meaning™ Story Problems supplemental curriculum or any math story problems curriculum of their choice.
Math for Meaning™: Story Problems 201
In this institute, teachers and leaders in Grades K-5 will learn key techniques for studying student work, transferable coaching that supports student independence, and facilitating discourse that culminates in clear and transferable learning goals.
This institute is designed for teachers and leaders in Grades K-5 who are eager to increase the effectiveness of their story problems instruction. Participants will be broken out by grade-band to ensure content is practical and highly relevant.
Math for Meaning™: Middle School
In this institute, teachers and leaders in Grades 5-8 will learn practices for facilitating effective math lessons grounded in conceptual understanding.
This institute is designed for teachers and leaders in Grades 5-8 who are new to Lavinia Group’s approach to middle school mathematics instruction. Participants will be broken out by grade-band to ensure content is practical and highly relevant.
Lavinia Group offers a supplemental K-8 Story Problems curriculum for hands-on learning and rich mathematical discourse. Using daily lesson plans, students persevere through problem-solving and share their mathematical reasoning. They develop the confidence and precision necessary to tackle any mathematical task independently while building their mastery of grade-level standards.
