Science of Reading Allignment
A Structured Literacy Program
At Lavinia Group, we believe in the fundamental right of every child to learn to read. As a result, our RISE summer school curriculum is a structured literacy program that incorporates all aspects of the Science of Reading to ensure that every child who participates in the curriculum has the opportunity to dramatically improve their reading skills.
What does the RISE Curriculum Include?

Insight Humanities™: Book Studies
Students will learn how to analyze ANY novel confidently and precisely by reading, analyzing, and discussing highly engaging, multicultural literature by award-winning authors.
How does each component of RISE align with the Science of Reading?
The RISE curriculum is intentionally designed to ensure that all aspects of the curriculum align with the Science of Reading. By participating in all literacy components, students experience instruction in all strands of Scarborough’s Rope. Additionally, the curriculum is delivered in the context of a knowledge-building, structured literacy program.

The Lavinia Group’s curriculum and methodologies are grounded in the Science of Reading research.
