Summer Learning

Builds Momentum

Summer learning should do more than maintain progress. It should help students strengthen skills, build confidence, and return to school ready for the year ahead.

Through the RISE Summer Learning Program, schools and community organizations provide students with engaging, high-quality learning experiences that accelerate growth and prepare them for success in the year ahead.

Growing Impact at Scale

In Summer 2025, more than 60,000 students participated in RISE Summer Learning programs nationwide.

The program is projected to reach 100,000 students by the end of Summer 2026, expanding access to high-quality learning experiences in schools and communities across the country.

Gains That Last

In just five weeks, Summer Learning Labs students made significant academic progress. Students achieved a 25 percentage point gain in ELA proficiency and a 24 percentage point gain in math proficiency, with all five regional partners posting double-digit improvements.

The Gains Don't Stop When Summer Ends.

A Basis Policy Research evaluation found that participants continued outperforming their peers well beyond the program—showing the equivalent of 9 to 17 additional weeks of instruction compared to similar students who did not participate.

Strong Systems

SUSTAIN IMPROVEMENT

Meaningful progress happens when strong instruction is supported by strong leadership. Schools and districts need a clear vision, aligned systems, and a roadmap for implementation.

Gainesville ISD | Gainesville, TX

With Lavinia Group's support, Gainesville ISD built VISION 2026—a districtwide strategic roadmap that continues to guide the district's improvement efforts today.

    NYU Study: RedThread Foundations

An independent efficacy study conducted by Dr. Susan Neuman, a leading childhood literacy researcher at New York University, found that first-grade students using RedThread Foundations made substantial reading gains in just six weeks — with nearly half of students reaching grade-level text after starting the year at the pre-primer level. The study found a 99.9% statistical likelihood that similar populations would produce similarly positive results.

Bellwether White Paper: How We Solve America's Math Crisis

Lavinia Group's instructional approach was selected by Bellwether as one of only three programs nationwide featured as an example of high-quality math instruction in action. The report, co-authored with K12 Coalition, draws on an analysis of NYC partner school data showing that Lavinia Group schools improved an average of 13 percentage points on state math assessments after just one year — gains that not only held but grew over time. Schools that began with the lowest proficiency rates saw the largest improvements, outpacing comparable NYC public schools by up to 12 percentage points.
