What are Lab-Sites?

Instructional Leadership Lab-Sites provide a unique opportunity to engage in hands-on professional learning that strengthens instructional practice and drives meaningful student growth. During these lab-sites, leaders observe live classroom lessons to analyze effective instruction in action, deepen their understanding of high-quality teaching, and prepare for and facilitate team meetings focused on intellectual preparation, studying student work, and implementing data protocols. Leaders also practice applying instructional leadership moves through in-the-moment coaching sessions guided by LG experts, allowing them to rehearse, refine, and internalize key practices in a supportive environment.

Instructional Leadership Lab-Site: Preparation for End-of-Year Assessments

$750 per participant

Grades K-8

The Instructional Leadership Lab-Site provides an immersive, hands-on professional learning experience designed to prepare school leaders to maximize teacher and student success in preparation for end-of-year assessments. This in-person lab-site equips leaders with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to drive meaningful instructional change in their own buildings, ensuring teachers and students are fully prepared for end-of-year assessments. During the day, leaders engage in authentic, practice-based learning tailored to their specific school goals.

By the end of the in-person lab-site, leaders will have a robust toolkit of instructional leadership practices, a deeper understanding of high-impact teaching, and the confidence to implement change that accelerates teacher effectiveness and strengthens student performance on end-of-year assessments.

During the lab-site, leaders will:

  • Immerse in an end-of-year assessment–focused instructional preparation meeting that anticipates student misconceptions, equips teachers for strong execution, and aligns instruction to high expectations.

  • Use the Lavinia Group Observation Tool to identify high-quality instructional practices, diagnose common pitfalls, and provide actionable, in-the-moment coaching to support teacher growth.

  • Analyze student work to notice the highest-leverage misconceptions and plan next-steps rooted in clear, transferable teaching points.

  • Engage in live coaching sessions that reinforce effective instructional leadership strategies.

  • Translate the skills and knowledge gained into actionable plans for improving instruction and student learning in their own building, creating a culture of continuous improvement and high expectations.
