Charlynn Bowers is a passionate educator with over a decade of teaching, coaching, and leadership experience. Charlynn began her career as a Houston Corps Member through Teach for America. During her time in 5th-8th grade reading and humanities classrooms, she was a celebrated teacher and mentor as she served on multiple founding teams to open and grow public charter schools in Houston. Outside of the classroom, Charlynn has coached reading, writing, science/technology, and social studies departments and supported leadership development on various levels, first as a dean of instruction, then as assistant principal. Most recently, she served as the principal of a charter middle school in Houston that was named by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top 10 charter middle schools in the city. Charlynn earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, and her master’s from the Relay Graduate School of Education.
