By exploring key literacy strategies, educators will understand how students develop reading and comprehension skills.

The Close Reading for Meaning™ method aligns with proven research to improve comprehension and critical thinking. You will learn the 'what' of each strategy and the 'why' behind its effectiveness.

Module 1: Main Idea Understanding

  1. Align on a vision for close reading that puts passion for texts and ideas front and center 
  2. Learn a clear framework for finding the meaning of texts across genres as adult readers 
  3. Understand the Close Reading for Meaning™ 3-day cycle with a focus on how to plan for and implement Day 1
  4. Plan and practice a Close Reading for Meaning™ Day 1 lesson
  5. Build independence by developing student discourse
