Deanna is excited to bring her experience as both a teacher and school leader across grades 3-12 to Lavinia Group. Deanna began her career in education as a Teach For America corps member at Mastery Charter Shoemaker’s campus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she worked as a Physics teacher, grade level chair, and instructional coach. She then transitioned to serve as the 10th grade Assistant Principal of KIPP Newark Collegiate Academy. After leading ELA and science learning as an Assistant Principal at KIPP Whittier Middle School, Deanna most recently served as the Principal at KIPP High School in Camden, NJ. Throughout her different roles, Deanna has consistently driven educational outcomes, including doubling Math state exam proficiency, increasing ELA proficiency by 23 points, and achieving a 25% increase in national percentage on the ACT exam in a single year. Deanna earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Lehigh University, where she studied Environmental Policy. Deanna also holds a Master’s Degree in Urban Education from the University of Pennsylvania.
