Erin Johnson

Instructional Consultant

Erin started her teaching career as a third grade teacher and instructional leader at Excellence Girls Elementary Academy—Uncommon School’s first New York City Blue Ribbon school. After three years of 85-100% of her students scoring proficient or advanced on the NYS ELA and math exams, Erin transitioned to support Leadership Prep Brownsville Elementary Academy as a third grade teacher, instructional leader, and Dean of Curriculum and Instruction Fellow. In this role, she led the third grade team in an academic and culture reset that led to a 15-20% increase in state test scores across all classrooms. Erin left the classroom to join Relay Lab Schools as the Elementary Literacy Manager supporting literacy instruction and curriculum implementation at two elementary schools based in San Antonio, Texas. She then joined The Literacy Group team as a Learning Architect where she supported leaders and teachers with turn-keying the science of reading into their everyday teaching and learning. Erin is an alum of the Posse Foundation, Teach for America, Relay Graduate School of Education, and The College of Wooster. She is an avid reader herself and passionate about ensuring that all students, no matter their race, economic background, or identity, receive the highest quality of education possible.
