Georgia Swan-Ambrose

Since graduating from Union College in 2011, Georgia has devoted her career to closing the opportunity gap for students and bringing equity to schools. She joined Teach for America in 2011 and fell in love with teaching Special Education in her middle school 12:1:1 classroom in Baltimore City Public School District. She later joined Success Academy Charter Schools as a Special Education Teacher Support Services teacher. There, Georgia gained experience as an elementary school leader, managing K-4 Special Education. During her tenure, she oversaw system implementation of alignment of Individualized Education Plans to the Common Core Curriculum. In addition, Georgia recently founded a tutoring program that provides services for children nationwide. Georgia holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Union College and a master’s in Leadership in Teaching from Notre Dame of Maryland University. She is currently pursuing her master’s of education in Education Policy at Columbia University’s Teachers College, with a specialization in K-12 education policy. She is passionate about being an instrument of positive change in her community and believes that educating our youth is the foundation of building that community.
