Lavinia Mackall
Managing Director
Lavinia began her career as a first grade teacher in Harlem. She vividly remembers the moment her students discovered negative numbers during a math discourse in her first month on the job and is inspired by the limitless potential she saw in children that day and all days since. She rose from teacher to principal and turned around a failing elementary school in East Harlem. Three years into her tenure, her school was one of 364 schools nationwide to receive a National Blue Ribbon Award for School Excellence. Prior to joining the Lavinia Group, Lavinia was a school superintendent managing up to 15 high performing elementary and middle schools across Brooklyn, The Bronx, Harlem and Queens. She is committed to the promulgation of best practices across schools and districts in America to ensure that all children have access to a high-quality education. Lavinia is a proud alumna of Vassar College and Teach For America and the mother of two girls.
