What are the RedThread Foundations and RedThread Knowledge Curriculum?

  • RedThread Foundations: An early literacy program that blends systematic phonics instruction with knowledge-building in science, social studies, and literature. The program helps educators foster confident, skilled readers while building a foundation of critical thinking and world knowledge.
  • RedThread Knowledge: A complementary ELA curriculum designed to deepen literacy skills and comprehension through content-rich lessons, integrating topics in science, social studies, and literature to promote advanced critical thinking and engagement.

This professional development series provides new educators with essential training to effectively implement both programs. Combining hands-on in-person workshops and targeted virtual unit launches, the series ensures participants are prepared to deliver impactful instruction from the start.

Two In-Person Daylong Workshops

RedThread Foundations Workshop

  • Date: Tuesday, August 19, 2025
  • Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM ET

RedThread Knowledge Workshop

  • Date: Wednesday, August 20, 2025
  • Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM ET

What You’ll Learn:
These workshops are designed to introduce educators to the core components and instructional strategies of each program. Participants will:

  • Gain a foundational understanding of the structure and objectives of Units 1 and 2.
  • Learn how to implement effective phonics instruction (Foundations) and integrate literacy with content knowledge (Knowledge).
  • Explore strategies for lesson pacing, scaffolding, and fostering meaningful student discussions.
  • Build confidence in using program resources to deliver engaging and effective instruction.

Virtual Unit Launches (Units 3-6)

Overview: Virtual unit launches provide ongoing, focused support to prepare educators for each unit with actionable strategies and practical tools.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Understand each unit’s objectives and best practices for implementation.
  • Explore strategies to address common challenges and support diverse learners.
  • Receive classroom-ready insights to promote student engagement and critical thinking.
  • Collaborate with peers to share experiences and refine instructional techniques.
